Lance Corporal William Thomas Graham

 

 

Lance Corporal William Thomas Graham was born in Lancashire, England, on 16 January 1887. Prior to 1910 he enlisted in the North Irish Horse, serving with the regiment for four years before emigrating to Canada.

Soon after the war began he joined in the 9th Mississauga Horse, but on 22 September 1914 enlisted in the 2nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force (Regmental No.7742). He sailed with the Battalion from Quebec on 4 October 1914.

In France by early 1915, his battalion was thrown into the fighting near St Julien during the German offensive at Ypres in April. Graham was killed in action between 22 and 26 April. His body was not recovered. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, West-Vlanderen, Belgium, Bay 10, Stone S.
